2012 Elmore Scholarship Recipients Announced
Samantha ScottMs. Scott has served as president of the parent center committee, on the Policy Council, on the Personnel Committee and in various other volunteer capacities in her program. Her director notes that she is an inspiration to other parents to be engaged with their children. Ms. Scott, a student at Colorado Technical University, remarks, ” I aim to enter an agency with the opportunity to help children, adults and families that are dealing with struggles, chemical dependency or mental health issues including HIV participants. As I gain knowledge, I am able to grow confident in self, the changes possible and a brighter future. My purpose is to lead by example to others and learn each day along the way through experience, education and input of team members how to use all available resources for new cheese in this journey called life.” Carol JustisMs. Justis is a seven-year veteran with the W-JCC program, serving as Education/Disabilities Coordinator. One of her strengths is building community partnerships, especially for ensuring the best services for children with disabilities. W-JCC boasts 48 community partnerships, many of them due to the hard work of Ms. Justis. She is pursuing a master’s degree in education from Walden University, a corporate partner of VAHSA. Congratulations to both of these women on receiving this award and for continuing their educational journey. |
