The Elmore Scholarship
The Nancy Elmore Scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for two people to receive some financial assistance with their continuing education expenses. Named in honor of Nancy Elmore, who has been an integral part of Virginia Head Start programs for many years, the Elmore Scholarships will provide two $1,000 scholarships to VAHSA member Head Start staff or parents to further their education.
All Head Start staff, except directors, are eligible to apply. All parents who have children enrolled during the current school year are also eligible to apply.
The Association will award two scholarships of $1,000 each, one to a parent, one to a staff person. Awardees must be enrolled in an institute of higher education; the award will be sent to the institution to be deposited in the account of the awardee.
Applicants must be nominated by their program. Staff applicants must be nominated by the program director; parent applicants by the Policy Council.
