Head Start Awareness

This year, celebrate Head Start by sharing what we do!

Easy ways you can promote and support Head Start

During Head Start Awareness month in October, honor your program while influencing your members of Congress and sharing the impact Head Start programs and directors have on their community.

The National Head Start Association shows you how:

Send an invitation

Inviting your Member of Congress or local elected official to visit your Head Start program is a great way to build relationships and show them the impact your program has on the local community. To help you with this process, NHSA has created some simple guidelines and templates for inviting your Member of Congress to your program, hosting a successful visit and appropriately following-up after the visit.

For information on your Senators, visit www.senate.gov. For information on your Representative, go to www.house.gov, and in the upper right-hand corner, enter the zip code for your headquarters.

Send a letter

The easiest way to begin to build relationships with your members of Congress is to send them a letter explaining why you support Head Start and asking them to support robust funding for the coming fiscal year. Send your letter today!
