Head Start alleviates worry for parent who is full-time nursing student

Head Start has been a saint for me and my family. While attending nursing school , full-time, doing all the required homework, attending after school activities and just being a mother, the least of my worries were my children.

I have four children, with three graduating from Head Start. My three children had the same teachers, Mrs. Petty and Ms. Carter. I knew they were in an atmosphere where they were loved, treated with respect and wanted to see success from them. My children were happy to go to school each and every day. I could call and

speak with the teachers if there was anything I needed to know such as waht was going on day to day in the classroom. They treated my children just like they were their own. I truly appreciated that from them. On days when I came to school, the secretary, Ms. Cobbs, always greeted the parents by name; that really made me feel special. All of the Head Start staff was and are so very helpful. Having my children go through Head Start was truly a blessing because when they started kindergarten, the teachers were surprised that they knew as much as they did.

The memories that my children and I have will last a lifetime. Still to this day my kids always talk about attending Head Start. Thank you everyone that works and is affiliated with this organization. It is the best!!!!
