Megan Lopes, MPH 

Megan Lopes, MPH, currently serves as the Healthy Communities Coordinator at the Virginia Department of Health in the Office of Family Health Services with the Chronic Disease Prevention Unit. Megan's work involves obesity prevention programs and initiatives that focuses on policy, system, and environmental changes that span throughout the lifespan from infants to aging populations. These programs and initiatives focus on breastfeeding, access to healthy foods, establishing wellness policies and plans, and increasing physical activity opportunities. Prior to her tenure at VDH, Megan worked as Maryland's state Team Nutrition Director working directly with CACFP sites, including Head Start centers. She is passionate about working with early care and education providers on identifying the best ways to integrate health into their programs, curriculums, and policies so the youngest Virginians have a healthy start!
